What We Believe
We believe in the Bible in its entirety and it is our sole authority for how to conduct our lives. This statement is not intended to replace the Bible. It is intended to make clear our stand on many of the major doctrines. We believe in a literal and historical interpretation of the scripture. We believe that all spiritual applications must be consistent with clear Bible teaching. No scripture to be used for any private interpretation. We freely admit that there will be areas of disagreement as we are all only human and none of us know all there is to know about God or the Bible. We understand that many of the doctrines we hold dearly will not be accepted by some who will visit our church. It is our desire to please God rather than men. We with out apology hold to the historic Baptist position because we believe that it is a Biblical position. This is who we are and who we want to be. We understand that there are other groups that are saved and love the Lord who do not agree with our position and we are thankful to live in a country that we have the God given right to respectively agree to disagree. May we try to emulate our Lord Jesus Christ by standing on the truth and accepting that we can love all men even those who hate us for what we believe.
We believe that the human writers were inspired of God and that God has preserved His Word for the English speaking people in the King James Version (KJV). We believe the KJV to be translated from the proper texts. We have everything we need to learn of God given to us in this special gift of the King James Version of the Bible. We recommend the book “A More Sure Word” by R.B. Ouellette if you would like to understand this issue more thoroughly.
We believe that the Local New Testament Church is the instrument that God intends to use in this age. We reject the universal and the dual church doctrines. We believe that whenever in the scripture that God talks of the body it is always in reference to the local body of believers. We believe that there is something in the future that is referred to as the Bride of Christ which is not clearly enough defined for us to make a dogmatic statement. We stand that the Local Church was started with Christ and is clearly intended to carry the gospel, baptize believers and disciple them to be holy as God is holy.
We believe that every one who receives the Lord Jesus Christ is saved and becomes a priest. This means that he is free to boldy approach the throne of God and does not need a mediator to go to God for him. Historically this doctrine is known and the priesthood of the believer. This means that each believer must choose to submit to the God given authorities in his life. Other than church discipline, we do not have any enforcement mechanism to force a believer against his will. We still believe that God will punish the wayward believer much better than we can and we must trust Him.
We believe the Bible teaches of a spiritual being called Satan. He is waging war against the people of God and is seeking to kill, steal and destroy. We believe that he is a deceiver and a liar. He is trying to keep lost people from being saved and is trying to blind the minds of people from the truth of the Bible. He does not come dressed in red and carrying a pitchfork but is transformed into an angel of light. He wants to lead us contrary to the scripture and is subtle and wily so we must be careful to walk in the light as Christ is in the light.
